- The Dancing With the Stars season 34 finale is nearly upon us, with five pairings competing for the famous Mirrorball Trophy.
- One of the semifinalists, Whitney Leavitt, was eliminated during the most recent episode on Nov. 18, after a confession she made on her reality show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, aired.
- Her DWTS co-star, Andy Richter, has weighed in on her “absolutely insane” elimination ahead of the season finale next week.
Did Whitney Leavitt spoil her chances of making it to the Dancing With the Stars finals? The reality TV personality and her pro partner, Mark Ballas, were eliminated following the show’s semifinals on November 18...which was just five days after The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 3 dropped in its entirety on Hulu, including a scene where Whitney spills major tea about her DWTS dreams. According to her fellow contestant Andy Richter, it could have been this SLOMW confession that upended her DWTS run.
Andy, who was voted off the competition on November 11, told Entertainment Weekly, “I think Whitney going home, to me it’s absolutely insane. I mean, she’s an amazing dancer.” But after praising her skills in the ballroom, Andy added that online chatter surrounding SLOMW might have led to Whitney’s exit. Though he’s never tuned in to the Hulu reality series, Andy admitted that he “has heard that she’s kind of the villain.”
“I need to tell you that Whitney was one of the sweetest, most positive loving people on that show,” he explains of their time on DWTS. “Beyond anybody else, from the moment I met her, she was loving, and winning, and kind, and considerate, and incredibly positive towards me... She was one of the people that definitely made me feel that I was a valuable member of this team.”
But, when he confronted her about her “villain” status on SLOMW, Whitney only proved the claim to be right with her sly (and dare we say iconic?) response. “When I found out she was the villain, I was like, ‘I hear you’re the villain on that show,’” he shared. “And all she said was, ‘Well, villains get paid.’”
In case you missed it: On the latest season of SLOMW, Whitney shocked fans when she revealed the real reason she came back to MomTok, which was solely to audition for DWTS.
“After last season, I did decide to step away from the show, but I never quit MomTok,” Whitney admitted in a SLOMW confessional. “I was always in MomTok, still a part of that group. I just really needed a break, but then I heard from my team Dancing With the Stars was going to cast someone from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and that’s a motivator. I'll come back for that.” At least she’s honest!
As for DWTS, Alix Earle, Jordan Chiles, Dylan Efron, Robert Irwin, and Elaine Hendrix are still in the running for the Mirrorball Trophy. The season finale hits ABC and Disney+ on Tuesday, November 25.
